  • World Cup 2018: Modric reveals Croatia biggest concern ahead of England clash

The black humour about Luka Modric, Ivan Rakitic and what they might do to England had been washing around social media all day.

That was after they lost 2-1 to France in the semi-finals, the same country they will play in the 2018 final should they defeat England. They had a real chance to reach the semi-finals, but at the critical moment some of the athletes have not sustained nerves, and they did not realize the 11-meter kicks.

"The Ballon d'Or? I don't think about it at all", Modric said.

"We were undermanned in midfield", said Dalic.

The Three Lions have scored eight times from set-pieces in Russian Federation already, the most at a World Cup since Portugal in 1966.

Patriotic Croatia president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic confidently predicted at the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit that her country will lift the World Cup trophy at the 2018 final in Moscow on Sunday.

"The lads can come away from this tournament and be proud of what they've done, but at the end we did come up a little bit short. It looked like as the game advanced, we improved physically and that was impressive".

England have a clean bill of health ahead of their first World Cup semi-final in 28 years. It's a dream come true for us after such a long time.

"The most important thing for me is that my national team succeeded and that we do something big".

Subasic's four shootout saves are tied with Harald Schumacher of West Germany and Sergio Goygochea of Argentina for the most in a single World Cup.

A promise: "If we win, all the team will dye our hair".

Dalic praised the Three Lions for their "fast" and "direct" football, but the 51-year-old believes his defence can handle the threat of England skipper Harry Kane, who has scored six goals in the tournament so far.
