Federer and Serena cruise into 3rd round at Wimbledon

Two days after creating a stir at Wimbledon with his new mega-bucks clothing deal, Federer was back making a style statement with his dazzling tennis as he gave Lacko a 6-4 6-4 6-1 dressing down to reach the third round on Wednesday.

The eight-time Wimbledon victor will play either Ivo Karlovic or Jan-Lennard Struff in the third round.

Federer kicked things up a gear in the third, breaking Lacko in the first game of the set and twice more to seal the straightforward victory.

Romanian 29th seed Mihaela Buzarnescu thrashed British teenager Katie Swan, 6-0, 6-3 to extend her remarkable renaissance.

Federer drew headlines around the world when he walked onto the court wearing a Uniqlo outfit on Monday for his opening match after ending his decades-long partnership with Nike.

Bertens and Pliskova had reached the fourth round at Wimbledon for the first time.

"They wouldn't know what I'm actually maybe trying to do really". "That's absolutely fine. It's obviously a marketing coup for Roger".

Worry not, Federer escaped and continued a roll through the tournament that has seen him play as close to his peak as ever.

"Providing you're adhering to the specifications in terms of the all-white rule and the amount of measurement in terms of branding, then that's fine", Desmond said.

Mihaela Buzarnescu of Romania has become the first player to book a place in the third round of Wimbledon.

Rodina, who upset 10th-seeded Madison Keys in the previous round, broke back for 3-2 in the second set but was broken to love straight away.

The 29th-seeded Buzarnescu beat Katie Swan of Britain 6-0, 6-3, clinching the match with a backhand victor on No. 3 Court. It makes him a clear leader in Wimbledon's ace race, and highly-rated Greek 19-year-old Stefanos Tsitsipas is next in the firing line, as both make their fourth-round debuts.

The 13th-seeded Raonic was playing John Millman of Australia as he bids to reach the third round for a sixth straight year.

Converting any of them, however, was mission impossible as Federer saved all four to take his streak of winning successive service games at Wimbledon to 81, dating back to last year's semi-finals.

The last of the women's top-10 seeds has been knocked out.

And now, heading into the quarterfinals, Federer hasn't had to waste time playing needless sets.

Kevin Anderson (South Africa) will meet eight-time champion Roger Federer in the Wimbledon quarterfinals.

She returned to the All England Club stuck in a rut after losing in the first round of both the Australian and French Opens this year.

Nishikori overcame a right arm injury to reach his first Wimbledon quarter-final with a gritty 4-6, 7-6 (7/5), 7-6 (12/10), 6-1 win over Latvian qualifier Ernests Gulbis.

A series of unexpected results have seen Garbine Muguruza, Maria Sharapova, Simona Halep, Petra Kvitova, Venus Williams and Caroline Wozniacki all eliminated.

Not one top-10 seed has made the women's quarterfinals at Wimbledon.

The forecast calls for more sunny skies, although there is a 30 percent chance of rain showers in the afternoon.
