Apple finally offers a free fix for your sticky MacBook keyboards

Under this program, if you have a MacBook or MacBook Pro with faulty keyboard, Apple will replace some keys, or if required, the entire keyboard for free.
Last month, AppleInsider combed through a small and insufficiently representative fix record dataset to come to some tentative conclusions-namely that the butterfly switch-equipped 2016 MacBook Pros experienced twice as many fix events related to the keyboard (excluding Touch Bar repairs) as the 2015 MacBook Pros that had the older chiclet design. Out-of-warranty repairs can cost $700 (roughly Rs. 47,500), requiring an upper case replacement. Its offer to pay for repairs to the keyboard already performed may affect these suits, but no settlements were announced today.
If you do own an impacted MacBook or MacBook Pro laptop, you're going to want to keep this page bookmarked.
These butterfly keyboards have proven divisive among consumers.
USA tech giant Apple yesterday agreed to launch a service programme to fix "sticky" keyboard problems for free, reported China's Xinhua news agency. However, the keyboards have numerous passionate and vocal detractors who say that they're bad to type on, and who also cite reliability concerns. The "butterfly" design made keyboards thinner but quickly sparked complaints that the keys tended to stick or were unresponsive. However, things didn't go in Apple's favour and users started complaining about keyboard issues soon after.
The announcement that the "butterfly" keyboards would be repaired follows a federal class-action lawsuitfiled against MacBook or Macbook Pro for the defect last month in Northern California. Jason Snell, editor of Six Colors and former editor-in-chief of Macworld magazine, wrote in April 2018, "Apple's relative silence on this issue for existing customers is deafening". That has to take place at an Apple Store or authorized service provider, too, which means owners have been left without their computer for periods of time. Though you might face some charges if your laptop is damaged in some other way to the point that it interferes with keyboard repairs.
