Deandre Ayton: 'I deserve to be the #1 pick'

  • Aggregate NBA mock draft 2.0 Luka Doncic has fallen to No. 4 overall

The man that goes by many names, Deandre Ayton, took part in a solo pre-draft National Basketball Association workout with the Phoenix Suns.

"No one else", Deandre's answer when asked what other teams he would grant a pre-draft workout.

"I know I'm going Number 1", Ayton said after his workout with the Suns, according to Arizona Sports.

"I want to be the best 2-way player coming into the league and be a shot protector and protector rim".

In 32 games for the Blue Devils, Bagley generated impressive averages of 21.0 points with a 61.4 percent field goal percentage and 11.5 rebounds per game. "That's just me. I think I deserve that".

General Manager of the Suns, Ryan McDonough, indicated during the press conference that the one hour workout was made up of certain game scenarios on both offense and defense, shooting, finishing and defensive drills. "We take that obviously as a compliment", said McDonough of Ayton's desire to play for the Suns. "I have a whole country on my back that I'm representing and I just want to fulfil that achievement", he said. Big key I learned was versatility.

"There will be a lot of mismatches because if I guard them they have to guard me at the end of the day, " he said. "Nobody is really double-teaming or triple-teaming". "Hakeem Olajuwon, his footwork down low, I learned a lot of stuff from those guys". He said there's none of the laid-back attitude that's a trademark of his homeland. The big man said he's not working out for any other team because "I know I'm going No. 1", per the Suns. The Suns are already treating Ayton like he's a teammate, and we're still two weeks from the draft.
