The Swiss take on Brazil in their opening 2018 World Cup clash on Sunday evening.

Brazil's bid for a sixth World Cup got off to a slow start as Switzerland withstood an early onslaught to snatch a 1-1 draw in Rostov-on-Don on Sunday.Brazil's midfielder Fernandinho (top) and Switzerland's forward Breel Embolo compete for the ball during the Russian Federation 2018 World Cup Group E football match between Brazil and Switzerland at the Rostov Arena in Rostov-On-Don on June 17, 2018.

With 20 minutes gone, Coutinho gathered a clearance 25 yards from goal and curled a marvellous shot into the far corner off the post to give the five-times world champions the lead.

Mentally the Brazilians need to flush the 7-1 blowout loss to Germany in the 2014 World Cup semifinal out of their minds and come in fresh to start a new run.

Even though Brazil and its stars including Neymar, Gabriel Jesus, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho all playing strong through the qualifiers and friendlies, they're up against a Swiss team ranked sixth in the world after winning 9 of 10 qualifiers.

Just before halftime, Brazil had a chance to double its lead after Marcelo won a corner kick, with Thiago Silva's glancing header flying just over the crossbar.

The World Cup match between Brazil and Switzerland will be broadcast live on FS1. It was Coutinho's 11th goal in 37 matches with Brazil.

Hard to pick a standout individual, but the Barcelona man provided a world-class moment that should have sent Brazil on their way to victory.
