Mission impossible might just be possible for Iran.

An own-goal in the fifth minute of injury time gifted Iran a 1-0 victory over Morocco on Friday at the World Cup. However, they were left rueing the draw that saw them placed in the same group as 2010 winners Spain and European champions Portugal, with only the top two sides advancing to the last 16.

"But I can tell you, as a footballer, we don't compare diplomatic and political problems to sports".

"It's an impossible mission. Our attitiude is to try and make the impossible, possible". "It was a few hours of freedom for 80 million people".

IR Iran were made to wait until the final minute of added time to find a victor through an own goal from Moroccan defender Aziz Bouhaddouz.

"The performance of our defenders was a masterpiece", Iran attacking midfielder Saman Ghoddos was quoted as telling the country's semi-official ISNA news agency.

Morocco handed Iran a stunning 1-0 win in stoppage time in the World Cup on Friday when striker Aziz Bouhaddouz headed the ball into his own net off a corner kick. In a way, Queiroz's team can take a chance against Spain in Kazan on Wednesday.

Queiroz's men romped through Asian qualifying without tasting defeat in 18 games.

"U.S. sanctions mean that, as a US company, Nike can not supply shoes to players in the Iranian national team at this time", a company statement said. Sanctions applicable to Nike have been in place for many years and are enforceable by law.

"We don't have camps, we have problems".

Real's appointment of Lopetegui could, the federation apparently feared, have opened up Spanish football's age-old faultline between the squad's Madrid and Barcelona-based players. They're not against anybody'.

It was the second last-minute victor in today's World Cup action after Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez rose like a salmon to give Uruguay a winning start and break Egyptian hearts in Group A.

It will be the 21st FIFA World Cup. "[The players] showed [against Morocco] they deserve to be treated like all the other players in the world".

Bouhaddouz, who entered the game in the second half, was attempting to defend a low cross off a set piece in extra time when disaster struck.

"We are in this World Cup under the umbrella of Federation Internationale de Football Association and the main value of Federation Internationale de Football Association it is to put politics apart, but this is not what is going on", he said.
