  • Australian cricketer Ashton Agar pleased to see David Warner get TV role

David Willey's unbeaten 35 saw England to a nervous three-wicket victory over Australia at The Oval on Wednesday as the top-ranked side in one-day worldwide cricket returned to winning ways after their shock defeat by Scotland.

Off-spinner Moeen Ali, the man-of-the-match, took three for 43 in 10 overs and leg-spinner Adil Rashid two for 36 after Australia captain Tim Paine won the toss.

Sky is increasing the amount of sport it broadcasts in 4K by announcing that from today 13 June, cricket fans will be able to watch all of England's T20 and One Day International matches in 4K Ultra HD through Sky Q and the Sky Sports Cricket channel. "They are trying to turn around the image of the game in their country, and we're all for that".

"Again we've spoken about this a lot in the last few months; we are aware that words are just words".

"It's part and parcel of the game", he explained.

Captain Steve Smith and deputy David Warner were banned for a year over the ball-tampering incident in March's third Test against South Africa that shamed Australian cricket.

"Today they didn't. When you're defending 214 against the No 1 side in the world, you're not going to win all that often".

He also felt that the current Australian team will face instances where they might get bowled out really quickly as their batsmen are quite aggressive and thus, it is going to take a little bit of trial and error as well as a show of faith and trust from selectors.

Australia were without their injured Ashes-winning fast-bowling trio of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, with Andrew Tye, Kane Richardson and Billy Stanklake selected by the tourists on Wednesday.

Australia and England will shake hands to open the ODI series on Wednesday when both sides line-up on the outfield of the Oval ahead of the first of the five-match series.

Sandpaper boundary cards were handed out to spectators outside The Oval by some "entrepreneurs" outside the card but security staff tried to confiscate them on the grounds the their logo constituted "ambush marketing".

England enjoyed a 4-1 series win over Australia "Down Under" earlier this year but will be confronted by a new-look side in London.

But Paine concedes Australia must prove they are reformed characters.
