While the rest of the DCEU is in something of a state of flux with talks of Ben Affleck exiting his Batman role, the success of 2017's Wonder Woman made a sequel all-but guaranteed.

"The greatest thing about making this movie was the fact that you're really building to the Wonder Woman that we all love, but not until the end of the movie", Jenkins said.

Gal Gadot returns as the titular Amazon alongside Chris Pine (as Steve Trevor).

Patty Jenkins, the director for the first film and the sequel, tweeted a photo on Wednesday of Pine in character as Trevor, dressed in sweats and sneakers and inside a shopping mall.

BURBANK, Calif. - Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman's next big screen adventure finds her facing an all-new foe: The Cheetah.

Jenkins has pretty much reunited most of her behind-the-scenes team from Wonder Woman, including director of photography Matthew Jensen, production designer Aline Bonetto, and costume designer Lindy Hemming.

One of the images is quite a doozy. We knew that joining Gal Gadot's Diana Prince would be Pedro Pascal (as somebody we don't know yet), Kristen Wiig's Cheetah, and some sort of cameo for original Wonder Woman Lynda Carter.

Besides, Steve frickin' Trevor is back, back, back, and while his welcome return may defy logic, there's no denying Chris Pine's chemistry with Gadot.

Set to open in theaters November 1, 2019, "Wonder Woman 1984" is based on the character created by William Moulton Marston, appearing in comic books published by DC Entertainment.
