'Fool Trade': Trump continues to rip G7 in tweetstorm

  • Trump told Macron EU worse than China on trade

The United States on Saturday signed a G-7 declaration calling for a reduction of tariffs and other barriers to trade, though President Donald Trump continued to lash out at traditionally close allies for allegedly treating unfairly on trade.

Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland spoke against the United States over its tariffs on steel and aluminum on Friday during the summit.

The spat drew in Germany and France, who sharply criticized Trump's decision to abruptly withdraw his support for a Group of Seven communique hammered out at a Canadian summit on Saturday, accusing him of destroying trust and acting inconsistently. "Kim must not see American weakness".

After Trump left the event, he launched a scathing attack on Canada's tariffs, while Trudeau called the USA president's steel and aluminum imports tax "kind of insulting", and insisted that Canadians "will not be pushed around" when it comes to further talks.

President Trump went on with his advisers and attacked Prime minister Justin Trudeau by using words like "betrayal" and "stab".

Kudlow said that Trudeau's statements are "amateurish" and "sophomoric" only "for domestic consumption", and that it was Trudeau's remarks that had prompted Trump to pull out of the joint communique.

Earlier, the White House escalated the initial tirade and levelled more withering and unprecedented criticism against Mr Trudeau, branding him a back-stabber unworthy of Mr Trump's time. Can't do it in person. "Manitoba is a trading province, Canada is a trading country and we create jobs here, not by building things in silos, we work together". Among other things, she said the government should be preparing to keep pace with corporate tax cuts and tax breaks south of the border.

Canadian journalist Sean Craig got to the bottom of the brow-troversy by noting that Trudeau's left eyebrow is thicker than the left one, making it look like it slopes differently than his right eyebrow. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., also called Trudeau's comments a stab in the back to Trump. "That will not stand".

"The communique was agreed by all the parties who attended the G7 and we fully intend to honour it", the spokesman said.

And former foreign policy advisor to Trudeau, Roland Paris, called Trump "a pathetic little man-child".

By any reasonable measure, the administration's actions were part of a complete scorched-earth approach that was unbalanced and irrational and will only worsen an already frayed relationship with Canada.

"I can't believe this has to be said, but Justin Trudeau obviously didn't have a "fake eyebrow" falling off during his press conference with Emmanuel Macron", the reporter tweeted. But even more frightening, welcome to Trump's new America.

For good measure, Trump sent out more tweets the morning of June 8 before his arrival in Quebec - "Canada charges the USA a 270% tariff on Dairy Products!"

"Sorry, we can not let our friends, or enemies, take advantage of us on trade anymore".

Navarro appeared on "Fox News Sunday", and Kudlow was on CNN's "State of the Union" and CBS' "Face the Nation" and Harper spoke on Fox's "Sunday Morning Futures".
