The signing of Lichtsteiner is a good signing and fans all over are seemingly happy with the business done early on in the summer.

It might not be glamorous, but in Stephan Lichtsteiner Arsenal have their first signing of the post-Wenger era.

The 34-year-old right-back is a vastly experienced player who won seven consecutive Serie A titles in his seven years at Juventus.

Since Switzerland have qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russian Federation, the Gunners faithful can see Lichsteiner in action when the Swiss open their campaign against Brazil on June 17.

It is not perhaps the most exciting of signings, a 34-year-old who cost nothing and was allowed to leave by his former club.

New head coach Unai Emery is wasting no time trying to strengthen our defence after we conceded 51 Premier League goals last season and he knows we need to improve at the back if we're to challenge for the top four again.

Switzerland captain Stephan Lichtsteiner became the first new recruit for new Arsenal coach Unai Emery, on a free transfer from Juventus on Tuesday.

Stephan is joining Arsenal from Juventus and has been handed the No. 12 jersey ahead of the new season.

Gonzalo Higuain struck on 64 minutes before Paulo Dybala huit the victor three minutes after that.

Lichsteiner moved to Juventus in 2011 and won seven successive league titles with the Italian club.

"A story full of unforgettable moments that I will keep in my heart forever".

"Stephan brings huge experience and leadership to our squad. I'm really positive that we will do great things". The big objective is to come back on the highest level.
