  • Karnataka must provide security for Kaala: High Court

Kaala is expected to do well since it will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi.

The controversies surrounding Rajinikanth's Kaala and whether it will release in Karnataka or not has hyped up the film.

According to reports, Kaala was made on a budget of Rs 140 crore and if the ban sustains in Karnataka, then the film makers will suffer a gross loss of Rs 15-20 crore. Adding Rs 70 crores from satellite rights and Rs 5 crores from music rights, Rajinikanth's latest film has managed to earn over Rs 230 crore even before its release.

"Kaala" has also earned Rs 7 crore from rest of India and Rs 45 crore from worldwide shores, which makes its total theatrical earnings as Rs 155 crore approx. Kaala has also earned Rs 33 crore in the AP/Nizam region and has managed to earn 10 crore in Kerala. Enthiran also raked in around Rs 290 crore.

The court refused to entertain a plea by K S Rajashekaran, who sought an injunction against release of the movie. Earlier today, the Supreme Court refused to impose a ban on the film, stating that fans are eagerly waiting to catch the film. As a token of great honour to superstar Rajinikanth and as per everyone's request, our company is granting a holiday on June 7.

Hours after the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday said that "Kaala" should be allowed to release in Karnataka amid tight security (if needed), Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy opined that the atmosphere is not good for the film to be screened in his State!

Meanwhile, the counsel of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce submitted that they had not instructed the protestors or the exhibitors not to exhibit the movie. The actor asked the new government in Karnataka to give Tamil Nadu its share of Cauvery river water as mandated by the Supreme Court verdict.
