  • Donald Trump Says ‘Our Ancestors Tamed a Continent' and ‘We Are Not Going to Apologize for America’

Donald Trump delivered remarks during the United States Naval Academy's graduation and commissioning ceremony, Friday, May 25, 2018, in Annapolis, Maryland.

"Our economy is the strongest it's ever been and our country has regained the respect that we used to have long ago overseas", stated President Trump. "Our country has regained the respect that we used to have long ago overseas, yes they're respecting us again, yes, America is back".

"We've gained the respect that we used to have long ago".

The president also praised the history of America's military dominance, but said that in recent years there were people who denigrated the US.

Donald Trump said Friday that America will not apologize for its military might or allow its national pride to be weakened as he hit out at his predecessor in office during a commencement address. 'We are not going to apologize for America, we are going to stand up for America. We are going to stand up for America.

The outcome of those discussions could have an impact on the 1,042-midshipmen class that graduated Friday.

"Or, I could stay and shake hands with just the top 100".

His speech came a day after he kicked up fears of ratcheting tensions on the Korean peninsula for canceling a diplomatic summit with North Korea's leader scheduled for next month. "No more apologies. We are going to stand up for our citizens, we are going to stand up for our values", he said in a thinly veiled shot at ex-President Obama.

On Twitter Friday, Trump said he looks "forward to being with some of the greatest people on earth!"

The class of 2018 includes 283 Naval aviators, 134 submariners, 256 surface warfare officers, 70 restricted line officers, 15 explosive ordinance disposal officers, 236 Marines and 35 "very tough, very well-conditioned" Navy SEALs, Mr. Trump said.

They go on to list other courageous actions taken by Naval Academy graduates over the years - and then compare them with the actions taken by Trump, who was busy at the time cheating on his three wives and being a reality TV game show host.
