You might need to cancel your weekend plans if you want to hit the top of the leaderboard: Epic says you'll need to play at least 50 Solo Showdown matches to get ranked, though only points from your first 50 will count towards your total score.

It's been just about eight months since Fortnite's Battle Royale mode launched, and in that time, plenty of players have become astoundingly good at the game.

Placements in this limited time mode will be specially tracked and determine rewards you receive at the end of the event. Gameplay for Solo Showdown will be identical to the standard solo mode, which means that there won't any of the tweaks to drops or new rules we typically see in other limited-time game modes.

In an announcement made earlier today, Epic Games has revealed their latest in a growing list of different ways to play Fortnite, though this time the going will be quite rough. "To thank you for participating, play 50 games and get a unique spray".

When it comes to the scoring system, finishing first place within a match will award you 100 points while finishing 20th place within a match will award you 50 points. The top players will win prizes-the idea is that people will take it more seriously than the regular solo queue. 2nd to 4th place yields 25,000 of the in-game currency, while 5th to 50th get 13,500.

The game files for Fortnite have folders for each game mode.

Place between 50 and 5 and you'll get 13,500 V-bucks, while fourth, third and second place get 25,000 and the victor gets a whopping 50,000.

The Fortnite Solo Showdown is the first instance where Battle Royale players who perform well can earn V-Bucks. The mode will end on Monday, May 21st at 10:00 a.m.

Epic apparently has more up their sleeves as far as competitive Fortnite goes.
