It will be recalled that Neymar left Barcelona past year to pitch tents with Paris Saint-Germain in a world-record £200m deal and has been tipped for a return to Spain to sign for Madrid this summer.

Barcelona star striker Lionel Messi has had his say on the rumours that Neymar could join Real Madrid.

As it is, Barcelona look set to end the season 12 points clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid-their final game of the season is against Real Sociedad at the Camp Nou on Sunday.

Messi and Neymar had four trophy-laden at Camp Nou but the Argentian admits it would be tough to see Neymar at their rivals, telling TyC Sports: 'It would be bad because of everything that Ney means to Barcelona.

"It would be bad if Neymar went to Madrid because of what it means for Barcelona", he told TyC Sports. "The fact that we got to the finals and didn't win anything is a weight that we carry with us and we want to break this barrier" it was confirmed, before Messi stated his belief that Argentina can still mount an impressive effort this year without lifting the trophy. It would be a huge blow for everyone.

He has scored 383 goals 417 matches for the Catalans - winning nine La Liga titles, three Champions League and several other domestic and continental cups in the process.

"Every time I start a season I try to improve myself, win everything, leave everything every time I go out to the pitch, give the maximum for my teammates and for myself".

Messi said: "I do not go to City".

The Brazilian has enjoyed a decent amount of success in his first season at PSG-although they also disappointed in the Champions League-but he has already been linked with a return to Spain. "We're the first to want to be champions in Russian Federation".

Messi and Neymar will be rivals this summer as Argentina and Brazil chase World Cup glory in Russian Federation.
