United confirmed on Thursday evening that Ferguson was now out of intensive care, as they suggested their record breaking former manager needs time to recover.

The 76-year-old Scot was United manager from 1986 to 2013, winning the Champions League twice, the Premier League 13 times and five FA Cups.

United revealed on Wednesday that Ferguson will remain at Salford Royal Hospital as he continues his rehabilitation as an inpatient. "I went to see him in the box after the game and he looked in a flawless shape", said Wenger, after his final home game as Arsenal boss at the Emirates.

Ferguson, the most successful manager in Manchester United's history, had surgery on Saturday.

United have already qualified for next season's Champions League and just need a point to guarantee finishing in second place behind arch-rivals and title winners Manchester City who were presented with the Premier League trophy at the weekend.

Nevertheless, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp described Ferguson as "absolutely the boss".

Former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson is out of intensive care but remains in the hospital following surgery for a brain hemorrhage.

"We are very, very positive", current United manager Jose Mourinho said earlier Wednesday.
