Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson reckoned that both batting and bowling clicked for them as they registered a 11-run win over Rajasthan Royals to jump to the top spot of the Indian Premier League (IPL) here on Sunday.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by five runs in an IPL match to book a play-off berth on Monday.

Put in to bat, Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson (56 off 39 balls) raged a lone battle with a defiant half century, despite losing his partners at regular intervals before Shakib joined him to forge a 64-run partnership for the fourth wicket and take the side past the 100-run mark. Later in the night, it was the all-too-familiar story of the SRH bowlers raising their game and strangling the opposition; RCB could only get to 141-6. It was an important catch at that time as Kohli's wicket derailed RCB chase and they eventually lost the match by five runs.

Towards the end of the game, Brendon McCullum did most of talking to bowlers, helping them arrange the field.

"We deserve to lose this game".

Hyderabad could only add 21 runs for the first wicket.

It will be a battle between the most effective bowlers and the best batsmen when SRH host RCB.

Bowling: Ali 3-0-19-0, Yadav 4-0-36-1 (2w), Southee 4-0-30-3 (1w), Siraj 4-0-25-3 (1w), Chahal 4-0-25-1 (1nb), Grandhomme 1-0-8-0 (1w). He played for Sunrisers Hyderabad last season for a whopping Rs 2.60 crore and was twice Man of the Match.

It was a much improved bowling performance from Royal Challengers as Southee and Siraj finished with three-wicket hauls despite being hit for a couple of lusty blows in the death overs - a phase which also saw some brilliant fielding by Kohli who effected two run-outs.

His opposite number Williamson dropped a sitter when Kohli edged a Rashid Khan delivery.

Kohli (39) then took center stage and played various shots to keep the scoreboard ticking for Bangalore and score at the required run rate. "If you have strong characters, you will always do well", Virat Kohli said after the match. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddarth Kaul, Sandeep Sharma and Rashid Khan took one wicket each.

RCB opened their batting with Manan Vohra and Parthiv Patel where the latter provided them with a great start with his knock of 20 runs which included 4 fours.
