  • Apple Advises Replacing iPhone X Rather Than Fixing Face ID

The front-facing camera also worked fine but not the FaceID.

Apple has given its Genius tech support and third-party fix centers permission to issue complete iPhone X replacement units, after identifying a frustrating issue with its Face ID system.

Apple Stores and other authorized service providers have received instructions on how to handle the problem devices.

Apple has promised this new Face ID must replace the traditional Touch ID which has been introduced together with all the iPhone 5s.

According to the Apple official document, Apple stores, and Apple authorized service providers are instructed to run diagnostic on rear camera of iPhone X and check if the system can be repaired to solve the issue.

While we still don't know how the rear and front camera might be linked, it seems that a problem with the dual-lens camera found on the back of the iPhone could somehow create a problem for Face ID. Again, it's a complex system, and it's evidently one that can be repaired relatively easily, or not at all.

One such reddit user explained the conversation he had with a Genius Bar personnel - "I was talking to the Genius Bar guy and he said that the cameras are connected". If the fix of your iPhone X doesn't work, a full-device replacement is likely to take place. If that doesn't work, a whole unit replacement is advised instead of a same-unit display fix.

The tech giant reportedly has sent a support document to retailers and authorised service centres addressing this issue. TO cater this, Apple has Updated Repair Policy for iPhone X Units Having Face ID Issues.

The iPhone X may be the best-selling smartphone in the first quarter, but it is far from being a ideal device.

If you use an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus and have had difficulty being heard during calls, you aren't alone. The lenses differ on which they do. If the issue persists, service providers should run an audio diagnostic on the device. Some users have noticed that features like pano, slow-mo, and time-lapse still work, while others did not.
