  • Nadal Trounces Stefanos Tsitsipas to win 11th Barcelona Open final

The title is his 11th career singles title in Barcelona.

"I've had two fantastic weeks but we were coming off hard months because of the injuries", Nadal said. "But I get pleasure from each tournament and it means a lot to me" - quoted Nadal official website of the Asia-Pacific region.

The local favorite though lauded Tsitsipas and opined the teenager has an "amazing future" in the sport.

It's two "undécimas" down, one more to go for Rafael Nadal, who's now captured 11 career titles in Monte Carlo and Barcelona, and has a great shot at an unprecedented 11th French Open. Nadal has won 5 titles there and will be looking to achieve his 6th one as well.

Nadal, who also won his 11th Monte Carlos Masters title last week, was never seriously challenged on his way to a 19th straight victory on clay. "I enjoyed the whole week and had great support from the crowd", the champion said.

"I had watched him a lot but in reality it's not like (watching him) on television".

Win or lose on Sunday, Tsitsipas will become the first Greek player to break into the world top 50 when the latest men's rankings are released on Monday.

In a match that was halted multiple times by rain showers, Nadal asserted his superiority over the NextGen star losing just three games; such is the form that Nadal is in at the minute. With the win he also retained the No. 1 ranking, which he could have lost to Roger Federer during the week.

"Not in my best dreams I would have imagined such a record".

"I have seen millions of Rafa's clay matches on TV - I have been preparing for this match for 10 years", joked the young Greek. ' 'You need to be patient and do everything right, but I was in a rush and head a mess in my head.
