Marquez was accused of having "destroyed" the sport by Rossi, but the Spaniard obliterated his rivals to claim a sixth win out of six at the Circuit of the Americas despite being given a three-place grid penalty.

"I didn't have confidence to battle so I was pushing from the beginning and just go away, open the Spain they will be happy".

The Repsol Honda rider took pole on Saturday but started on the second row after the stewards adjudged him to have impeded Maverick Vinales in qualifying.

Vinales found his way past the Suzuki at Turn 1 on Lap 7, and at the time it looked like Rossi would soon follow suit. Rossi said later he was "scared" to have Marquez on the grid, saying he is a safety risk to other riders. Maverick Vinales is not too far behind with 41 points, while last race victor Cal Crutchlow is fourth at 38 point - he made no improvements today and finished outside of points.

After an exciting race in Argentina, the Americas GP was turning out to be a boring race before Zarco and Dovizioso started fighting for fifth place in the closing stages of the race. Tito Rabat ended the race eighth for Reale Avintia Ducati, while Jack Miller finished ninth.

The Italian led the chase for Marquez throughout the race before the Yamaha of Vinales got the better of him for second place.

Marquez continued untroubled up front to clinch victory easily and make it six wins out of six at the Grand Prix of Americas. I felt a special feeling on the last lap, when I passed in front of Nicky's flag.

Danilo Petrucci (Alma Pramac Racing) took P12, ahead of some impressive points for Pol Espargaro and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing in P13.

The Repsol Honda rider stretched out a lead seven seconds at one point during the race before rolling it back to cross the line 3.5sec ahead of Maverick Vinales. Well-rewarded for a solid race, the 2017 runner-up is now the leader of the pack once again after his controlled performance, including a late race pass on Johann Zarco (Monster Yamaha Tech 3).

Marquez, a four times world champion, has yet to win this season but will still fancy his chances from fourth place at a favourite track.

Bradley Smith and Scott Redding were next along with Luthi finishing ahead of Crutchlow after he re-mounted - he was also given a 2.7s penalty for cutting a corner.
