  • David Attenborough has a laugh with the Queen in upcoming documentary

Walking and talking with Sir David Attenborough through Buckingham Palace's gardens, the Queen says "sounds like President Trump, or President Obama", when their peaceful walk is ruined by the sound of an aircraft.

But that is exactly what happened when Queen Elizabeth was in conversation with English broadcaster and naturalist Sir David Attenborough.

The 42-year-old heaped praise on the British monarch for her dedication to helping plant trees in Africa to highlight the importance of forest conservation, saying she was inspired by the 91-year-old royal to teach her own children - Maddox, 16, Pax, 14, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 11, and nine-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox - about the cause. "Of course they've said 'Oh well, let's give her a plant ... or a tree or something'".

BRITAIN'S Queen Elizabeth II can be heard cracking jokes about U.S. presidents and addressing her own mortality for the first time in new TV show with Sir David Attenborough. "That it was planted in the shade, it wasn't in the shade originally, I'm sure?"

The Queen's Green Planet will be a one-off ITV documentary celebrating a Commonwealth environmental project.

Filmmaker Jane Treays said of the programme: "I was aware I was working with the two most consummate professionals on the planet". "Sounds like President Trump or President Obama", she adds, prompting laughter from Attenborough.

She also jokes about efforts to "stop children playing conkers" because of "health and safety".

During another light-hearted moment, the monarch spots a sapling bent over at an alarming angle, remarking: "Somebody sat on it I think, at the garden party". "Can't both be", she says.

The Queen's Commonwealth Canopy was the idea of Labour MP Frank Field, who found successive governments lukewarm about it until the monarch supported the project.

"The Queen's Green Planet" will be broadcast in the United Kingdom on ITV at 9 p.m. on April 16.
