Apple Co-founder shuts down his Facebook account

  • 'You are the product': Apple's cofounder Steve Wozniak is quitting Facebook

"Well, give me a price to never share my data and I'll know how much I'm paying for that account".

Christopher Ailman, chief investment officer of the California State Teachers' Retirement System, said Wednesday that he deactivated his personal account due to the "offensive" lack of oversight and poor management at Facebook. To know if it was a final departure message from Wozniak, certain agencies tried to contact him but in vain.

Steve Wozniak has left Facebook, according to a report. Wozniak, a founder of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, praised Apple in a 2016 interview on Conan when the Federal Bureau of Investigation famously tried to access the iPhone 5c of San Bernadino shooter Syed Farook. He also did not want to give up his screen name, "stevewoz".

Wozniak has joined others in the complaints about how Facebook allowed this to happen, with Apple CEO Tim Cook already critiquing the company. During the interview, Cook was asked about how he would have handled the situation if he was in Zuckerberg's shoes. "I don't think at all that that means that we don't care about people". "I did not feel that this is what people want done to them", he said. "Apple only makes its money off of good products, so it can be done".

Wozniak said he'd rather pay for Facebook than have his personal data used for advertising purposes.

Jefferies analyst Brent Thill wrote in a recent research note that the firm analyzed Facebook's traffic in March and did not find many users jumping ship. Count Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak as one of those people.

Wozniak in an email statement to USA Today said that Facebook makes its profit off of users' private information, but none of that profit is returned to them.

Facebook is still under notable public pressure in the wake of the scandal involving Cambridge Analytica, the British data analytics firm that worked with the Donald Trump presidential campaign. Right after the scandal was brought to light, Elon Musk took down the Facebook pages of Tesla and SpaceX.
