Manchester City's Brazilian midfielder, Fernando Luiz, known as Fernandinho, believes that his team will not give up their chances to defeat Liverpool and reach the UEFA Champions League semi-finals despite the 3-0 loss in the first leg.

The Reds travel to the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night with one foot in the semi-finals following their 3-0 success at Anfield last week, and the Dutchman has admitted he thinks his side will strive for a second win rather than trying to shut City out.

Nicolas Otamendi and Vincent Kompany were the centre-back pairing on both occasions, and Guardiola is considering an alternative defensive duo. And the chances we are going to (face), our keeper needs to save them. My team is not comparable to many others.

John Stones did not feature in the matchday squad for Saturday's defeat and Guardiola revealed he was not risked because he was struggling with an adductor injury. It is a joy to be manager of that team, even two days ago, after the way we played.

"He was not ideal and I decided not to take a risk. He has to fight with these guys to prove why he should play".

Guardiola accepts City will have to find a delicate balance between defence and attack against Liverpool and only a flawless performance will be enough to see them progress to the semi finals.

"They're good at counter attacks, which is going to be very important, and I think the main thing is not to concede a goal in the first 15-20 minutes".

He added, "If we are not able to go through because of psychological damage then it will be a good lesson for the future". The result is tough but because everything can happen.

"But we can not forget it is a simple game - just focus on every single minute".

The42 is on Instagram!

Reds boss Klopp watched City run riot in the first half of Saturday's Manchester derby before United staged a stunning comeback to beat them.

"What we have done this season is wonderful and we have a chance to go through in the Champions League". "They try to keep the players around the middle".

"I will be close to them no matter what happens here until the end of the season". That's what I am talking about in terms of not needing examples.
