  • Iran tries to unify currency to halt rial's record slump

Iranians are clearly on edge with many speculating on a possible U.S. withdrawal from the 2015 multilateral nuclear deal which was supposed to free Iran's economy from crippling sanctions, although in reality only the European Union, Russia and China removed financial restrictions. However, "our response will be stronger than what they imagine, and they will receive it (the response) within a week", he said.

It is the 12th year Iran is celebrating a national day to mark its achievements in the nuclear industry.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has pledged to take immediate countermeasures if the USA pulls out of the nuclear deal with his country.

US President Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened to withdraw from the nuclear deal.

Iran seeks military and defense power, as well as economic and cultural power simultaneously for legitimate authority in the region and the world, Rouhani said.

In January, Trump announced he is waiving the USA sanctions against Iran for the "last time".

The strike killed 14 fighters, including allied Iranian forces, a monitoring group said on Monday.

These comments are supposed to "warn" the United States and the other signatories to the nuclear deal against making changes to the deal, which at present largely benefit Iran and no other country.

Jahangiri said from Tuesday the government would not recognize any rate but the official rate, and "it would be illegal to trade dollars with an unofficial rate". He said, if his demands are not met within 120 days, the USA will withdraw from the deal.

"The other side is seeing this American weakness loud and clear and, it is enhanced further by the Russians' embrace, giving these negative forces, led by Iran, a lot of confidence", an Israeli official said.

The other partners to the agreement - Britain, France, Germany, China, Russia and the European Union - all agree that Iran has stuck by its commitments, as does the International Atomic Energy Association which is tasked with inspecting Iran's compliance.

Another one of those flaws is insufficient inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency, as cited by Michael Rubin, a former Pentagon adviser and expert on rogue regimes, who noted that Iran operates many secret sites which may be used for nuclear research.

The other parties to the agreement would have been unlikely to join the United States in reimposing sanctions.
