  • Gov. Rick Scott aims to unseat Florida's Democratic senator

When he finished his service he worked his way through college, got a law degree and went on to become head of the Columbia/HCA hospital chain.

"We're going to do the exact same thing we've done in Florida, we're going to turn around the national economy, we're going to make sure that Washington works for us", stated Scott. She was a joy to work with and cared tremendously about her family, her career and the Floridians she served. "We shouldn't be sending the same old exhausted people to Washington".

"I didn't fit into Tallahassee.because I didn't play the insider games".

"We shouldn't be sending the same old exhausted people to Washington", said Scott. It is usually quite hard to unseat an incumbent-especially one who has been around for longer than one term-but Scott's name recognition (even greater than Nelson's per a recent poll) changes the dynamic considerably. He says term limits are in place in Florida and elsewhere, including for the president, and he says they should be in place on members of the U.S. House and Senate.

Mike Rounds support Scott on CNN's "New Day" Monday morning, but didn't fully endorse him, saying: "Senator Nelson is a friend of mine".

"Jobs where most of the people who are working have to work three jobs?" Some political pundits already are predicting a blue wave of Democratic victories driven by efforts to push back against President Donald Trump, who is a close Scott ally. Scott backed Trump in the 2016 election and also "chaired a super PAC for Trump that raised $20 million". "I don't consider myself any type of anything".

"I run on what I believe in. You know, I think that's true", Scott said.

"People are flocking to Florida because this is where you can live the dream of this country", he said. "I'm sick of it", Scott said. "That's not what I call jobs", said Lyte-Johnson, the president of the Democratic Women's Club of West Orange County.

Sources claim the Senate race is expected to be one of the most watched in American history.

"And I run like there's no tomorrow", Nelson told reporters in Orlando.

Scott spurned the "naysayers" who he said will tell him "you can't fix Washington", and recalled hearing the same message when he was elected governor and when he began his career in business.

The Senate Majority PAC, a Chuck Schumer-aligned super PAC, released a digital ad over the weekend as part of a six-figure campaign this week blasting Scott for cutting businesses' taxes while raising property taxes and slashing education funding.

He resigned in 1997 while the company faced federal fraud charges over Medicare billing practices.
