Mame Diouf ends goal drought as Tottenham Hotspur defeat Stoke City

Albion were led for the first time by caretaker boss Darren Moore following Alan Pardew's sacking this week, but he couldn't mastermind a vital victory at the Hawthorns.

"Now we have to focus immediately and be ready again on Tuesday (for the second leg of the Champions League showdown with City)".

It was goalscorer Diouf who spurned Stoke's best opening to snatch a point when he was sent through on goal by Badou N'Diaye, only to see his pass to Shaqiri intercepted by Jan Vertonghen after opting not to take on the shot himself.

Stoke are second from bottom with 27 points from 32 games and face an uphill task to ensure their survival.

The Dane converted from Dele Alli's 52nd-minute cutback to give Spurs a lead which lasted only five minutes as Mame Biram Diouf capitalised on a Hugo Lloris error.

However, Tottenham restored their advantage in the 63rd minute as an Eriksen free-kick from wide on the left found it's way in to the back of the net.

In between, Stoke levelled through Mame Diouf, but the loss meant they are four points from safety with five games to go.

Mauricio Pochettino's side are 11 points clear of fifth placed Chelsea, who host West Ham on Sunday.

Bournemouth twice came back from a goal down to draw 2-2 at home to relegation-threatened Crystal Palace.

Luka Milivojević and Wilfried Zaha had netted for the away side.

Yet the majority of the crowd was silenced seven minutes into the second half when Eriksen scored.

"We're playing for three points, the same as against Chelsea".

Steve Mounie canceled out Jonas Lössl's own goal as Brighton and Huddersfield shared the spoils at The American Express Community Stadium.

Xherdan Shaqiri nearly secured Stoke a share of the spoils 10 minutes from time, but his free-kick came back off the crossbar and Spurs held on to the victory which leaves them only behind third-placed Liverpool on goal difference.

That seemed to jolt Spurs into life, as they soon became the dominant force and should have taken the lead 10 minutes later, Son shooting straight at Jack Butland when played through on goal.

A defensive mix-up between Maguire and Wes Morgan allowed Spanish playmaker Perez to nip in and lob the ball over Kasper Schmeichel to make it 2-0, and though Jamie Vardy pulled back a late goal for Leicester, Newcastle held on to win.
