Army: Two died in helicopter crash in Kentucky

  • 2 Fort Campbell soldiers killed in Apache crash

An AH-64E Apache helicopter crashed in a training area at the sprawling army post that straddles the Kentucky-Tennessee line.

The devastating crash took place on Friday night and marks the fourth aviation accident this week, killing a total of seven soldiers.

The cause for the helicopter crash is not yet clear and is being investigated.

Officials say the names of the deceased will not be released until late on Saturday after next-of-kin have been notified.

Both from the 101st Airborne Division, the solders, are never identified.




He said 'our thoughts and prayers are with the families during this hard time'.

The crash is the latest in a series of similar incidents involving USA military aircraft that began on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, a U.S. Air Force pilot using an travel Thunderbirds exhibition squad died when his F-16 fighter airplane crashed at Nevada. Later the same day, a Marine Corps CH-53 helicopter sustained "minor damage" while landing in Arta Beach.

A Maritime jet crashed in Djibouti on Tuesday.
