The eagle has landed ... on the Mariners pitcher

  • Seattle Mariners pitcher James Paxton throws against the Minnesota Twins in the first inning of a baseball game Thursday

A bald eagle went wild on a Seattle Mariners pitcher during an April 5 Major League Baseball game and we've got the insane video.

A bald eagle was brought out to fly around the field during the National Anthem at Minneapolis' Target Field as the Twins took on the Seattle Mariners at home.

"It was coming right for me and I was like, 'Alright, the guy is over there". Rather than running around, Paxton just stood there until the eagle left and made a decision to set on the ground again.

"I was just standing there, trying not to panic", he said. But it was just trying to stand on my shoulder. "But then as I stood straight up, it fell back onto the ground".

The entire experience was witnessed by Paxton's teammates, who were lined up on the third base line for opening day introductions watching everything unfold. At first, Paxton moved his body to get out of the way of the big bird and it landed on the grass.

Maybe the Eagle will give him the good luck he needs to turn around his 11.00 ERA.

"I just have to be not standing alone in the field", Paxton said.

Paxton had a rocky first start of the season, allowing six runs in 4 2/3 innings to the Indians, but perhaps this is a sign of a few goose-egg outings to come.

"The eagle knew I was Canadian, I don't know", he said.

"When I saw him like perk up on Paxton's arm, I'm gone", Buxton said. "It came for me".
