South Korea's First Female President Jailed For 24 Years

Park Geun-hye is not the only former South Korean president to face criminal charges.
Park was dismissed in March a year ago when the Constitutional Court upheld her impeachment.
M - Park Geun-hye, South Korea's first female president, was sentenced to 24-years in prison after being found guilty of crimes that exposed deep links between politics and the nation's corporate giants, Bloomberg reported.

Park lawyer's are expected to appeal her sentence. The prosecution had demanded a jail term of 30 years.
Choi was given a 20-year jail sentence along with a $16.6 million fine in February for abuse of power, coercion, fraud and bribery.
"Long live the Republic of Korea!" protester Choi Hyung-suk shouted into a microphone, referring to South Korea by its formal name.
"We see the ruling fit for what Park has committed using her power to violate the rule of the country and its constitutional order", read the statement issued by the DPK. The court said Park, as president of the country, "would not have had access to so much detail about the leadership and management of Samsung Group".
Choi's sinister influence on Park was reportedly one of the reasons he was assassinated.
