Tens of thousands, mostly civilians, have been killed in separatist violence since the late 1980s.

Meanwhile, hotels across the state have said that they have faced losses due to cancellations.

According to hospital officials, numerous injured were hit by shotgun pellets in the eyes, causing widespread anger across Kashmir.

More than thirty people were injured in fresh clashes in southern Shopian where twelve militants had been gunned down by security forces in two separate encounters on Sunday.

Five foreign militants affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba: Abu Muslim, Hubaib, Khalid, Abu Hamza and Haider are also involved in the killing, the police said.

The strike call had been issued by Farooq Ahmad, the imam of the Jamia Masjid in Kishtwar, against the killings of four civilians in forces' action in Shopian district on Sunday.

Another youth was killed in a brief gunfight with forces at Dialgam in Islamabad district, he added.

Reports from Shopian said that several protesters sustained injuries in shotgun pellet firing by the security forces in the town's Gol Chowk area on Monday. "The fight is still on", the IGP said.

Another four Kashmiris were killed and scores of others injured when police opened fire on thousands of demonstrators who poured onto the streets, throwing stones and chanting slogans against Indian occupation.

Authorities have also clamped a curfew in the old parts of the disputed region's main city of Srinagar, the urban centre of protests and clashes against Indian rule.

Train services between Baramulla and Bannihal towns have also been.

Former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who had shared the Times of India article deleted the tweet soon after people told him that the story was fake.

The streets were wound in loops of barb wires, with checkpoints and barricades at regular intervals to prevent any demonstrations against the killings that took place on Sunday. Of the two, while one was killed in the encounter, the other was captured alive.

That upsurge in violence has escalated in 2018, with 49 armed freedom fighters already killed this year.

Union Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said the state has been affected by terrorist violence that is sponsored and supported from across the border and levels of the violence in various districts of the Valley are linked to infiltrations.

The resolution highlighted the Indian forces' brutality against the innocent civilians in the form of military operations, pellet gun attacks and shelling.
