Manoeuvrability has always been a virtue of the RAV4 and this has not been compromised in the new design.
The Toyota Rav4 ended the Camry's 14-year reign as the best-selling vehicle that's not a pickup last year, highlighting a market-wide shift away from sedans to utility vehicles. 2019 RAV4 SUV gets a new design which looks fresh and updated.
Toyota's new RAV4 will bring much tougher styling and petrol/hybrid powertrains as the brand pushes ahead with plans to axe diesels from its European line-up.
As per the theory, the stretched wheelbase gives the SUV better road manners, while shorter front/rear overhangs aids in off-road drives. Toyota says in the news release that this allows the vehicle to send 50 percent of the torque to its rear wheels or distribute to either the left or right side. "The disconnection features the world's first ratchet-type dog clutches on both the front and rear wheel shafts".
One of its three AWD systems along with a more traditional arrangement and Toyota's AWD-i hybrid setup generates 30 %more torque for the electrically driven rear wheels.
The XSE Hybrid model, for instance, features gloss metallic black cladding and dual-tone colour choices among other unique options.
For the 2019 RAV4 Hybrid model, the same 2.5L engine is used, with slight detuning for MPG improvement, and an electric rear drive system as in the previous generation RAV4 Hybrid. Toyota operates two assembly plants in Canada, in Woodstock and nearby Cambridge, but isn't saying yet where the hybrid will be built.
Inside every 2019 RAV4 is equipped with Entune 3.0 multimedia including Wi-Fi Connect powered by Verizon, Amazon Alexa, and AppleCarPlay compatibility. This new AWD system will be available on the 2019 RAV4 Limited and Adventure models.
The fifth-generation comes standard with eight airbags, enhanced stability control, traction control, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, anti-lock braking system and smart stop technology. An optional 8-inch can be had with navigation, as can wireless charging and a JBL premium audio system. When Toyota says that its model is "new" they really mean it. Without mentioning numbers, Toyota says the new RAV4 offers better rear-seat width and legroom, both of which were excellent before. Also included are new Toyota technologies like Lane Tracing Assist, which recognizes vehicle lanes on the highway and works in conjunction with cruise control to maintain the center of the lane through steering assistance. But there will not be a diesel version of this RAV4 in Europe or anywhere else for that matter as Toyota has committed to phasing out diesel from its range completely by the end of this year.
