  • Huawei launches powerful P20 and P20 Pro flagship smartphones

Huawei launched its new lineup of P20 flagship smartphones on 27 March, which included the P20 Pro and P20. The HUAWEI P20 Pro features the world's first Leica triple camera and both devices include unprecedented AI advances, combining technology and art to bring to life a groundbreaking smartphone experience.

Keen to make a splash at its unveiling event in Paris, Huawei led with the prowess of the unusual triple-lens camera on the P20 Pro. However, the recently launched Huawei P20 Pro might get to hold its rank for while, after achieving some interesting scores. With Ultra Snapshot mode, the devices can capture an image in as little as 0.3 seconds by just double-clicking the down volume button, even from an off screen. Huawei AIS steadies handheld night shots for incredible long exposure images without a tripod. You get that new tri-lens camera configuration, octo core Kirin 970 CPU and all the software perks that come bundled with EMUI 8.1.

Both high-end models also feature a 24 megapixel selfie camera with AI beautification and 3D portrait lighting. That said, this new dual sensor system is a great improvement from the Huawei P10, enough that it can take on other flagships based exclusively on merit, with DxOMark giving it 102 points, and the second place in the ranking.

One of the other cameras is a 20 MP black-and-white sensor which can be used either for monochrome photography or to provide depth information and to highlight the main part of a composition by blurring the background of an image captured by the main sensor. It is capable of capturing details that can not be seen with the naked eye.

Huawei talked up the handset's camera capabilities, particularly on the P20 which boasts a triple-sensor camera made in partnership with Leica.

The promo is open to those who will purchase from participating Huawei Experience Stores and Multi-Brand Stores nationwide.

Huawei has a reputation for making powerful phones, with great cameras, at a fraction of the price of the latest iPhones and Samsungs. The Porsche Design Mate RS will start selling in Europe from April 12 starting at Euros 1,695 (roughly Rs 1,37,121) for the 256GB storage version going all the way to Euros 2095 (roughly Rs 1,69,480) for the top-end 512GB version. It also has back fingerprint sensor to unlock the device or to access a second, secure space.

The P20 gets a 3,400mAh battery while the P20 Pro gets a large 4,000mAh. It sports the same 4000mAh battery as the P20 Pro, with Huawei SuperCharge fast charging support. Pricing for the Porsche Design Mate RS starts at Euro 1695 (or approx Rs 1,36,525) and goes up to Euro 2095 (or approx Rs 1,68,743).

We run through the features of these two new Huawei smartphones, plus explain how the company has managed to fall afoul of the CIA, FBI and NSA.
