According to the college's official Twitter page, the lockdown went into effect Monday afternoon and is still active.

They say law enforcement will remain on campus this evening and continue the investigation. If you are sheltered in place, you will be evacuated and escorted to a safe location.

A pair of phone calls threatening to take some sort of action at the Gordon Science Center on the campus of Utica College has resulted in a campus-wide lockdown.

Officials at an upstate NY college say a lockdown sparked by a telephone threat has ended after all buildings were searched and staff and students escorted to safe locations.

The college first reported the lockdown an hour and a half earlier, and have since called it a "real, credible threat".

The investigation was continuing, with police remaining on campus. Students who live on campus were escorted back to their dorms by law enforcement, while non-resident students, staff and faculty were allowed to leave campus.

'There are armed police officers on campus.

"A secondary sweep of all buildings is underway", Utica police and college officials said in a news release. Police officers have arrived on scene, but told Fox News no shots were fired.

Utica College is located about 55 miles east of Syracuse, New York.

'Comply with all law enforcement instructions.
