Woods to play at Valspar Championship, Arnold Palmer Invitational

  • Brandel Chamblee believes there's an '80 percent chance&apos Tiger Woods plays Ryder Cup

Woods has won the Arnold Palmer Invitational eight times.

The four-time Masters victor announced Friday that before he heads to Magnolia Lane he will start two PGA Tour events - next week's Valspar Championship, which he has never played, and the Arnold Palmer Invitational, where he owns eight of his 79 tour victories. This will be the first time Woods plays two stretches of back-to-back events before the Masters since 2006. He missed the cut the next time out after a second-round 76 at the Genesis Open at Riviera.

The reason for the addition of Valspar to his schedule is that Woods does not qualify for WGC events.

Tiger had limited options for pre-Masters events because he is ineligible for the World Golf Chanmpionships tournaments this week in Mexico and the Match Play later this month. For the sake of comparison, in his last two truly healthy years (2012-13) Woods also played five tournaments prior to the Masters.

After a 12th place finish at the Honda Classic, tons of bettors are putting money on Woods to win his fifth green jacket at Augusta National this April, and his odds have shot up to 16-to-1, according to Bovada.

It's just great to see him back.

.

"How high he can get, I don't know, but I wouldn't be shocked at all if he made a run". I really hit it well and I was able to control, especially in this wind.

Sharma, who entered the week ranked first on the European Tour after early-season victories in South Africa and Malaysia, said: "I've definitely proven to myself I belong here and I can play with the big boys". "Keep building my body, keep building towards April".

"I don't think he's all the way there and all the way back".
