Actor Sridevi passes away from cardiac arrest, she was 54

Sridevi Kapoor, best known by her mononym Sridevi and a major Bollywood star, died Saturday night in UAE of cardiac arrest. She was in Dubai to attend her nephew Mohit Marwah's wedding where she reportedly had a cardiac arrest.

According to a report in Indian Express, Sanjay Kapoor confirmed the news by saying, "Yes, it is true that Sridevi passed away".

Well-wishers are now rushing to Sridevi's house in Mumbai to be with Janhvi.

The actor born as Shree Amma Yanger Ayappan in 1963 in Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu, is survived by her husband and two daughters Jhanvi and Khushi.

Sridevi voted as India's greatest actress of all time in a CNN-IBN poll of 2013 has several domestic and worldwide awards tucked under her belt.

But her scintillating innings in Bollywood began with Himmatwala which was a super success at the box office.

Sridevi made her debut as a child artist in Thunaivan, at the mere age of four. In 1978, Sridevi appeared on the silver screen at the leading actress with film Solva Sawan.

Sridevi's Bollywood movies include Sadma (remake of Moondram Pirai), Mr India, Chandni, Chaalbaaz (in a dual role with Sunny Deol and Rajinikanth), Khuda Gawah (double role of an Afghani mother and daughter, opposite Amitabh Bachchan), Lamhe, and Gumrah.

However, Sridevi formally married film producer Boney Kapoor in 1996 and the actress took a break from films.

In 2017 he came up with another impressive performance in Mom which will now be remembered as her last film.

The shocking news of her sudden death has prompted a outpouring on Twitter from her friends and fans. Condolences to everyone who loved #Sridevi. She was reintroduced in Bollywood with English Vinglish released in 2013.
