That caused Messick's family to lash out at both McGowan and Weinstein for involving Messick and putting her in the middle. Earlier this month, McGowan spoke out against Messick during appearances on Good Morning America and The View, calling her out for working with Weinstein after her alleged rape.

Messick represented McGowan at the time she was allegedly raped by Harvey Weinstein and the longtime Hollywood exec felt "victimized" by the allegations put forth by McGowan, and later Weinstein, according to her family.

"McGowan's first post on Instagram following Messick" s suicide made no mention of her former manager.

They continued: 'It broke Jill, who was just starting to get her life back on track.

May your family find some measure of solace during this pain. The fact that one man could cause so much damage is astounding but tragically true. "The bad man did this to us both", she wrote on Instagram. May you find serenity with the stars, ' she captioned the pic of the sun.

Messick's family revealed the executive had suffered privately from depression and at least one manic episode, in an essay that was intensely critical of Weinstein, McGowan and the press, saying their loved one 'became collateral damage in an already horrific story'.

Rose McGowan's ex-manager Jill Messick committed suicide Wednesday in the wake of Harvey Weinstein scandal.

HuffPost reached out to McGowan and Weinstein for comment but did not immediately receive a response.

"Seeing her name in headlines again and again ... along with Harvey's desperate attempt to vindicate himself, was devastating for her", the statement said.

Her movie production credits include "She's All That", starring Freddie Prinze Jr, Mark Waters' "Mean Girls", art biopic "Frida", with Salma Hayek, and action film "Masterminds" with Zach Galifianakis, Kristen Wiig and Owen Wilson.

Weinstein's lawyers used an email from Messick in his defense last month.

When people realized Rose's first social media post since Jill's passing didn't acknowledge her at all, they were furious.

Messick is survived by her two children, along with her father, brother, and partner.
