  • Adam Lallana sent off Liverpool

Adam Lallana has been sent off while playing for Liverpool Under-23s because of an angry reaction to a challenge.

The incident appeared to begin in the 62nd minute when Lallana and 19-year-old George Marsh slammed into one another.

Adam Lallana received a straight red card for a freaky and unacceptable reaction to a challenge in a game for Liverpool's Under 23s on Monday.

Last week, Klopp discussed Lallana's injury and claimed that he was looking very good in training and he was being nursed back to full fitness.

The England global was dragged away by team-mate Danny Ings before being dismissed. He came up from behind and grabbed him with an arm around the neck, pulling the teenager into a chokehold.

Liverpool Under-23 manager Neil Critchley said: 'I have never seen Adam react like that.

Lallana started in a strong Liverpool line-up, alongside Danny Ings, Dominic Solanke and Ben Woodburn.

The 29-year-old was shown a straight red card but FA rules state a ban must be served for non-first team games. He's clearly not mature enough to handle first team action yet.

Liverpool had another player sent off just before time and finished the match with nine men; Tottenham U23s won the game 1-0 off of a goal from promising midfielder Jack Roles.
