  • Instagram just announced a big change to its Stories feature

You should be seeing the new creation tools and features for GIFs rolling out right now on the Gboard iOS app.

Instagram users, rejoice: A new function is now available on Instagram Stories that will make your posts way more dynamic.

Although making GIFs isn't particularly a new thing - you can easily turn your live photos into GIFs through Google's Notion Stills app - but adding the feature to Gboard makes it much easier and fun to do. The update also adds in support with GIPHY, which has a vast library of stickers. You'll now be able to add moving sparkles, word art, or accessories like hats and sunglasses to your story, overlaid on photos, videos, or Boomerangs. In the past few weeks, the feature was spotted in the app's Beta mode by a few users. Like stickers, GIFs on Instagram Stories can also be resized.

That's not all the new features the social network announced today. Or, if it's more your cup of tea, you can add something that totally doesn't belong in the scene - and collapse in giggles at the resulting masterpiece. Instagram will soon let users add any photos or videos of any size to their Stories. When a user selects that, a GIF selection screen will appear.

Popular photo-sharing platform Instagram is rolling out a new feature that helps users search and add GIF stickers to their Instagram "Stories".

With the upcoming update, your pictures and videos can be shared in their original dimensions, be they in a square, portrait or landscape format. You'll now be able to pinch and zoom to fit the entire photo into the story, and any extra room left empty by a photo will be filled with a matching custom color gradient.
