  • Dragon Ball FighterZ Will Receive Another Open Beta

Save your pitchforks for now as loot boxes are a perfectly fine mechanic for a multiplayer-driven game. Well it looks like loot boxes are not going away anytime soon because we may see them appear in Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Bandai Namco announced on Twitter that an "additional beta test" period will occur for Dragon Ball FighterZ bringing with it more improvements that should make the gameplay experience much better than before.

New screenshots have confirmed that there will be a loot box equivalent in Arc System Works and Bandai Namco's upcoming fighting game. Zeni is earned by playing the game and can be used to purchase these loot boxes. The Dragon Ball FighterZ loot boxes come in the form of Z Capsules (which hold cosmetic items and lobby avatars). Z Coins are earned when players trade in duplicate items they've earned from loot boxes, meaning they can not be purchased, either.

However, loot boxes reached the dark side literally when EA released Star Wars Battlefront 2 late past year.

It's unclear whether these loot boxes are just items that you earn through playing the game or if there is a real world money element here.

Since fans revolved over loot boxes in Battlefront 2, EA temporarily removed them to save its reputation. These and other in-game currency, like Source Crystals, can be obtained by completing special tasks and completing the game's living towers. Hopefully less loot boxes are included in video games coming out in 2018.
