  • CES 2018 Here’s what to expect

During the media days before the kickoff of CES this week - the show floor doesn't open until Tuesday - newly announced Alexa-enabled devices ranged from classic electronics (a Hisense television, a Garmin GPS device), to cutting edge (a $1,000 pair of smart glasses).

Sales of smart speakers are expected to almost double in the USA, to $3.8 billion, from past year according to Lesley Rohrbaugh and Steve Koenig, researchers with the Consumer Technology Association, which organizes the annual CES trade event. The technology show is covering 2.7 million square feet in Las Vegas and is scheduled to run until Friday.

Tonight, on the eve of CES 2018's opening, Intel's CEO is scheduled to give the event's first keynote address: "How Data is Shaping Innovation of the Future" (Monday, Jan. 8, 6:30pm PST in the Tech South Center, Monte Carlo Hotel, Park Theater).

"We predict that Amazon's Alexa will be more pervasive than ever, cropping up in numerous device categories, including cars, computers, fridges, lights, radios, TVs and more", he said.

While the description of his keynote focuses on the power of technology and Intel's latest advances, Krzanich is also expected to address two key concerns that arose last week - the "Meltdown" vulnerability and his personal sale of stock shortly before news of the vulnerability went public.

Artificial Intelligence- AI will also be an area of show and discussion. We also saw Amazon's Echo range given a new lick of (technological) paint - definitely symptomatic of a big rejuvenation of the smart home industry. Here are some things we expect to see at CES this year.

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the world's biggest technology show, where numerous world's biggest tech firms gather in Las Vegas to show off their visions of the future and set the tone for the innovative year ahead.

One of the most significant and most prominent Tech conventions in the world started from coming Sunday in Las Vegas.

The power went out on Wednesday at CES, the giant tech conference taking place in Las Vegas this week.

There are many other companies which will introduce innovative gadgets at the event. Its Eureka Park exhibition space, once a small corner of the main event, has grown significantly in size over a short period of time.
