On the list of shadiest of shady award show moments, Fifth Harmony figuratively kicking Camila Cabello off the stage in front of the entire world the MTV VMAs a year ago is definitely right at the top. While Brooke defended the visual by stating that it wasn't a direct slam at Cabello, the nasty press swirling around the band's split made it crystal clear that in the end, only four members were left standing. "It definitely hurt my feelings", the 20-year-old told the publication.

Questioned about Fifth Harmony's VMAs diss, Cabello revealed that the symbolic drop stung more than she would have liked to admit. "I was just curious and I wanted to learn and I saw all these people around me making music, writing songs and being so free", she told the newspaper.

She added, "I wasn't expecting it, I wasn't prepared for it - especially because at that point I'd moved on from it".

"I think there's a healthy amount of space you need to give certain things", she said. "I don't like holding onto the past". Her single "Havana" has been sitting comfortably at the top of charts since it's release in summer 2017. Camila gushed in a cute video while announcing the performance on her socials.

Though it may seem like eons ago for fans, Camila Cabello's official departure from Fifth Harmony only went down just over a year ago. "It makes me want to get up and dance".

"I feel like the best way to come up with something new and different is just to be the you-est you possible..." After her request to write lyrics for Fifth Harmony was denied, Cabello, who said she wanted to pursue a solo career while still in the group, realized something had to change (via Spin). "I just wanted to do that and it did not work", Camila said. Besides her debut album dropping on Friday (January 12), Camila also received a massive shout-out from Elton John on the latest Beats 1 broadcast with Matt Wilkinson. "If you pull from all the different little parts of yourself, nobody can replicate that". Now, in a must-read new interview with the New York Times, Cabello is giving her side of the story. I love your voice.
