"Nineteen years ago, he was stuck in traffic and saw a sign for the Golden Globes", said Franco, who then broke into Wiseau's mystery accent as he did in the film.

Ally Sheedy found Franco's presence upsetting enough that she tweeted about it. Why is James Franco allowed in?

Tommy Wiseau waited nearly 20 years to get on the Golden Globes stage but, when he arrived, he was denied the chance to speak as James Franco blocked his path to the microphone. Franco also had some sweet shoutouts for the other nominees and his BFF Seth Rogen.

BuzzFeed News senior tech writer Doree Shafrir was among those who pointed out some kind of irony in Franco wearing the pin celebrating the Time's Up initiative. But James Franco, in a single gesture, at the microphone, reminded all of us it's really just a fantasy'. It read, "Why is a man hosting? Please never ask me why I left the film/TV business", Ally tweeted during the Golden Globes. Christian Slater and James Franco at a table on @goldenglobes #MeToo", before adding, "James Franco just won.

While one wrote: 'Hugh Jackman's reaction to James Franco is everything. he was robbed.#GoldenGlobes'.

James Franco, with Tommy Wiseau and Dave Franco, accepts the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy for "The Disaster Artist" during the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 7, 2018 in Beverly Hills, California.

Franco in 2014 directed Sheedy in an Off-Broadway production of "The Long Shrift", Vulture reported. Some of the tweets focused on a 2014 incident in which Franco allegedly hit on a 17-year-old girl on Instagram. He allegedly later asked her where she was staying in NY and asked: "Should I rent a room?".

This isn't the first time Franco has caused controversy. "I used bad judgement and I learned my lesson".
