Oprah Slays Golden Globes

If you've been looking for a full Golden Globes 2018 winners' list, you've come to the right place!

"Call Me by Your Name is nominated for Best Motion Picture". Amazon's dystopian tale of a society where the few fertile women are put in service of powerful men also won the Globe for best drama.

She said: "So many of you know I keep my politics private but it was really great to be in this room tonight".

"Big Little Lies", "This Is Us" and "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" won Golden Globes last night and are now available for streaming.

The theme of empowerment for women, visible in the sea of black outfits among Golden Globe attendees on Sunday, also played out in the themes, characters and actors honored by voters in the television category.

Armie Hammer also failed to clinch an award as best supporting actor, while the movie lost out to Martin McDonagh's Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, which unexpectedly found itself the Oscars front runner after taking the biggest haul of the evening. "We are here for the work".

Nicole Kidman beat out her co-star, Reese Witherspoon, as the victor for best actress in a limited series for "Big Little Lies", HBO's disturbing tale of suburban life in California.

Aziz Ansari's turn in "Master Of None" won him Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Comedy or Musical, while the acting honours in the TV Drama categories went to Elisabeth Moss for "The Handmaid's Tale" - which was named Best TV Series, Drama - and Sterling K Brown for "This Is Us". In the biggest upset of the evening, Jordan Peele's fiercely satirical, and completely topical, horror-comedy, Get Out, was shut out entirely.

Oprah Winfrey was given the Cecil B. deMille Award.

She told all females watching that "a new day is on the horizon".

Instead, director Andrea Arnold (Transparent, I Love Dick) will helm Season 2's episodes, and Witherspoon is excited to see what she comes up with when the Monterey moms' stories continue: "We're just thrilled to welcome her to our family".

Since the Golden Globes are on NBC, one might suspect them of showing favoritism toward This Is Us by showering them with a bunch of nominations.
