The spy-thriller stars Jennifer Lawrence, and is scheduled to hit theaters later this spring.

Red Sparrow stars Jennifer Lawrence (as Dominika Egorova), Joel Edgerton (as Nathaniel Nash, the American agent), Matthias Schoenaerts (as Vanya Egorov), Charlotte Rampling (as one of the Sparrow School's instructors), Mary-Louise Parker (as Stephanie Boucher), and Jeremy Irons (as Korchnoi).

Lawrence was directed by Francis Lawrence, the duo have worked together before, partnering for several of the popular "Hunger Games" installments.

In an interview with Inquirer.Net past year, the director spoke about working with Lawrence for the fourth time. Lawrence plays Egorova, who finds herself destitute after an injury ends her ballet career. And a Russian saying, "If she is compromised, she will be eliminated".

"Red Sparrow" is based on the book by the same name by Jason Matthews. The striking art features Lawrence's lead character, awash in red, with the title standing out in stark white text.

The film is based on a 2013 novel of the same name by Jason Matthews, and revolves around a Russian woman (Lawrence) who is forced into the life of a "Sparrow", which essentially appears to be a secret agent/sleeper agent designed for exactly the kinds of missions you'd expect to involve a lovely young woman: Seducing generals, attending swanky soirees, occasional assassinations.

I just hope that she's allowed to show more emotion than Charlize Theron did in Atomic Blonde. Gradually, she comes to question the very nature of what her handlers have taught her about the world. Audiences responded to Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen in Hunger Games because she was a plucky survivor who ultimately became a hero in a larger sense.

"Red Sparrow was sexual, and I haven't done anything sexy or sexual".
