Trump postpones his fake "Fake News Awards"

  • Trump Postpones 'Fake News' Awards

On Sunday, the President took to Twitter and said, "The Fake News Awards, those going to the most corrupt & biased of the Mainstream Media, will be presented to the losers on Wednesday, January 17th, rather than this coming Monday". He added that the victor of such an award should get a "fake news trophy".

Since then, various chat show hosts have made fun of the president, placing "for your consideration" campaign adverts akin to movies fighting for Oscars.

Another "endorsement" came from Breitbart News, which in July 2016 called the show "political propaganda disguised as entertainment". In fact, Trevor Noah and his team are "so fake, even this ad isn't real".

U.S. President Donald Trump returns to the White House from Camp David, in Washington, U.S., January 7, 2018. "Read page A7!" and later: "@realDonaldTrump, get someone to read this to you!"

This comes after Stephen Colbert, host of CBS's The Late Show, revealed his show purchased a billboard in Times Square, announcing their nomination. But President Trump isn't one to be overshadowed, so he's getting in on the awards show action himself.

Trump thinks about his presidency as an hour-by-hour exercise in programming, which is clear from his Twitter feed and the way he drives the coverage to new topics-say, National Football League protestors-when he wants to change the story line.

Directing his words to Trump, he added: "Personally, I'm excited for your Dishonest & Corrupt Media Awards".
