Antonio Conte: 'Norwich City deserve replay'

CHELSEA are preparing to face Championship side Norwich City in the FA Cup third round. But the Belgian's latest underwhelming audition for Morata's starting spot was a timely reminder that the Premier League champions are navigating a gruelling season with attacking resources that compare poorly to most of their top-six rivals.

"It's a bit frustrating". We had difficulty offensively, we were poor. When you play away in this competition it's not easy.

"I believe in my players". It's a pity because we wanted to win the game, instead we have to play another game'.

"The game was very tough, especially in the first half".

"Norwich deserve to have another game". These are the rules though.

I think this is an FA Cup game where we could see a shock.

The Third Round replay will take place at Stamford Bridge on the week commencing the 15th of January; the official date will be confirmed as soon as the matches for television coverage have been selected.

"For us it is a small problem as we have to play another game when the schedule is very busy".

Norwich responded with their own attack and nearly took the lead from a 70th minute free-kick which was punched away by Caballero with Murphy's followup volley hitting a Blues player.

The first half was an unforgettably forgettable one, with neither keeper being properly tested. They defended very well, showed they were well organised.

"With these players we scored five against Stoke when you play Willian and Pedro they are creative players".

"To be honest I'm a bit disappointed it was not a win for us". Chelsea's 3-4-3 formation no longer catches opponents by surprise in the manner that it did during the 13-game Premier League win streak that virtually secured the title last season, and the more conservative 3-5-2 system Conte now favours in bigger matches is a slight tweak rather than a marked shift in approach.
