Jon Gruden Inking $100 MILLION Contract ... To Coach Raiders

06 January, 2018, 00:36 | Author: Carla Brady
  • Jon Gruden reportedly has a 10-year contract to coach the Raiders again

Gruden was then traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The news conference was first reported by the Raiders Snake Pit website.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Raiders are giving Gruden a 10-year contract which is expected to be worth roughly $100 million for Gruden to return to the sidelines.

Gruden, who began his head coaching career with the Raiders in 1998, will succeed Jack Del Rio, who was sacked following a season-ending loss to the Los Angeles Chargers that capped a disappointing 6-10 campaign.

So far there has been no official confirmation from the team.

Current Los Angeles Rams quarterback coach Greg Olson will be Oakland's offensive coordinator, while former Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Paul Guenther will serve in the same capacity under Gruden.

Gruden is scheduled to work the network's playoff game Saturday in Kansas City between the Chiefs and Tennessee Titans. After leading the Raiders to 8-8 records his first two years, Gruden helped the team reach the AFC title game following the 2000 season and got Oakland back into the playoffs the following season.

The last time Gruden coached the Raiders was January 19, 2002 against the New England Patriots. Overall, Gruden is 95-81 in 11 seasons.

Many speculated that the Raiders broke the Rooney Rule, which is a league policy that requires NFL teams to interview minority candidates for coaching and senior football operation positions.
