  • Cleveland Cavaliers' Isaiah Thomas watches the Cavaliers play the New York Knicks in the second half of an NBA basketball game Sunday Oct. 29 2017 in Cleveland

Thomas was traded by the Boston Celtics along with Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and two draft picks to Cleveland for Kyrie Irving in the offseason.

The All-Star point guard has been sidelined this entire season because of a right hip injury, which he suffered in last season's playoffs, resulting in him missing the final stretch of Boston's postseason run. Thomas's first game as a Cavalier comes against the Portland Trail Blazers at Quicken Loans Arena, a contest that will shape up to be a tough test for a Cleveland team that has lost three in a row over the Christmas period. He can't get frustrated thinking it's going to happen overnight.

"I'm a scoring guard and I know how to put the ball in the basket", Thomas said. They know what they gave up.it's all good. "So even when we're out there scrimmaging I can move around and do what I want but I just don't have my powers yet". "But I can wait until February".

In any case, there are all kinds of things to get excited about over this a year ago, that has brought them to this point right now.

The day the Cleveland Cavaliers have been so patiently waiting for is finally on the horizon. It would be highly unlikely he'd be peak Isaiah Thomas in his first game back from injury. "And Thomas said today he'd have a hard time in his comeback game in Boston without a full allotment of minutes to make an impact". He tried to force the Cavs to play him last week in Sacramento and was denied. "I was always one that just wanted to be the best I possibly could. Be you, be aggressive and look to score, ' so that always makes you feel comfortable that they want me to be who I am, and that's all I can be". This will be the first game for the Cavaliers this year, and it will also be the first game for the point guard in a Cavs jersey.

The Blazers beat Chicago 124-120 in overtime Monday. "The NBA didn't do us any favors".
