India has also slammed Pakistan of disregarding cultural and religious sensibilities of family members under the pretext of security.

Committed to addressing the humanitarian issues, India shared a list of 250 civilian prisoners and 94 fishermen with Pakistan.

Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chief Yasin Malik has taken up the cause of Indian prisoners, including Jadhav, in Pakistan in an open letter to foreign minister Sushma Swaraj.

A list of 54 Pakistani civilians and 4 fishermen who have completed their sentences in India was also handed over and Islamabad asked to speed up the confirmation of their nationality, it added.

As many as 262 Pakistani prisoners are in Indian jails facing deportation.

"We also await consular access to those Indian nationals in Pakistans custody for whom it has so far not been provided, including Kulbhushan Jadhav and Hamid Nehal Ansari", the ministry asserted.

The exchange of the lists of prisoners comes days after Indian death-row prisoner Jadhav met his family on December 25 in Islamabad.

Mr Jadhav was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court a year ago on charges of espionage and sabotage, allegations which New Delhi has dismissed as false. New Delhi says Mr Jadhav was kidnapped in Iran, where he had legitimate business interests, and brought to Pakistan.

Another statement indicated that they also exchanged the list of Indian or Pakistani people imprisoned in each neighboring country in accordance with the Agreement on Consular Access between India and Pakistan, signed on May 31st, 2008.

According to an external affairs ministry release, the two sides exchanged the list under the Agreement on the Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear installations between India and Pakistan.

The agreement contains the provision that both countries inform each other of their nuclear installations and facilities on 1 January every year. "Pakistan will release 146 fishermen on January 8", it said.
