According to a November report from the Congressional Research Service, the United States has appropriated $34 billion in direct aid and military reimbursements for Pakistan since 2002, with proposed security and economic assistance at $345 million for this fiscal year.

"We have already told the USA that we will not do more, so Trump's "no more" does not hold any importance", Asif said.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif and opposition leaders joined hands to come up with angry reaction to Trump's tweet and said the USA president is shifting blame of the US failure in Afghanistan to Pakistan.

"Pakistan is ready to publicly provide every detail of the U.S. aid that it has received", Asif added.

Hours after Trump's tweet a top White House official confirmed that Washington has indeed made a decision to block $255 million aid to Islamabad. It also quoted politicians as saying that the United States has failed for 16 years in Afghanistan, and must not use Pakistan as an excuse.

This comes after his administration is strongly considering whether to withhold $255 million United States dollars in aid to Pakistan as it feels Islamabad is not doing enough to counter terrorism.

Vice President Mike Pence in a surprise visit to Afghanistan on December 22 said the USA administration was putting Pakistan on notice to end its support for Taliban insurgents, a comment that generated a chorus of criticism from the Pakistani civilian and military establishment, which has denied harboring Afghan militants.

"We shouldn't overstate the policy significance of this tweet", said Michael Kugelman, deputy director of the Asia Program at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington.

"What kind of friends are we that we are being given notices?" he asked at the news conference. He added that U.S. operations in Afghanistan were being affected because Islamabad provided "safe haven" to terrorists. Pakistan has been one of the largest recipients.

In a withering attack, Trump on Monday said the United States has "foolishly" handed Pakistan more than $33 billion in aid in the last 15 years and had been rewarded with "nothing but lies and deceit".

Ghafoor denied that Pakistan allowed training camps or organizational headquarters on its territory.

Pakistan was already doing all it could to combat terrorism within its borders, he said.

"We have already told the U.S. that we will not do more, so Trump's "no more" does not hold any importance", Asif told Geo News.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has accused Afghanistan of harboring its militants and has sent a list of wanted terrorist to the Afghan government demanding they be returned.
