Cleveland Browns: Josh Rosen's reasonable reaction ramifications

28 December, 2017, 00:28 | Author: Carla Brady

While never directly mentioning the winless Browns, Rosen has publically said he'd rather fall in the draft to go to the right team instead of going high in the draft to the wrong team.

Days after UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen leaked word that he would be hesitant to declare for the National Football League draft this year if the Browns were likely to take him with the No. 1 pick, Darnold went a more diplomatic route. "It's been a dream of mine for such a long time to play in the NFL".

While Darnold has not officially declared for the draft, the red-shirt sophomore is rated within the top ten picks on most draft boards. Frank Gore's career is likely coming to a close, but the Colts appear to have a gem in Marlon Mack, a Day 3 pick from the 2017 draft who has looked impressive as a rookie. As it stands, Josh Rosen from UCLA would be a solid pick at first overall, but he has expressed that he might not want to play in Cleveland.

They can draft Rosen and basically dare him to sit out for a year or make the best of things. The Giants, now slated to pick 2nd stand out as well as the Denver Broncos and the New York Jets stand out in this scenario as they both have quarterback needs and are going to pick int he top ten, unless they were to sign Kirk Cousins. The haul of assets would be bigger and would be incredibly tense for both the Browns brass and fans as they sit there hoping their targets are still there while waiting for the teams in front of them to pick, but the payoff is obviously bigger.

Sam Darnold wouldn't have a problem playing for the Browns. The 2-13 Giants host the Redskins Sunday morning and project to have a top-three draft pick. The Trojans star is expected to be one of the first players taken if he makes himself eligible. ESPN reported that Rosen might skip the draft and return to play for Chip Kelly at UCLA next season if he knows the Browns would take him at No. 1.
